Psalm 119:121-128 – 7/28/2026

How long, Oh Lord, will the wicked prevail while the oppressed go hungry and unhoused? How long will oppressors and greedy, selfish men rule? When will the people be set free from their slavery?

I hear the promises of God in Scripture and then look at a world where the average person gets trampled by those in power, by those with wealth and capital. People are tied to meaningless jobs that destroy the earth in exchange for the means of survival and little more. In an age where social connection is breaking down and loneliness is rampant, this bare life tied to wage-slavery is dehumanizing and kills the soul. Where is God in all of that? What do God’s promises of salvation mean while people suffer at the hands of those with more than enough?

The Psalmist has been waiting for God’s salvation for a long time. His eyes fail from how long he’s been watching for it. I can relate. We eagerly wait for the restoration of all things, especially the restoration of human dignity.
